Oily Skin

One of the most noticeable characteristics of oily skin is the size of pores, which tend to be larger and more noticeable. If you have overactive oil glands, you are often prone to have whiteheads and blackheads. Blackheads are the result of the oil on your face being exposed to the air and oxidizing while whiteheads are the result of dead skin cells that stick in the oil and then degrade.

The reason for an oily skin type are varied. Some of the more prominent reasons are hormonal fluctuations, high humidity or lack of proper skincare for your skin type. If you remove too much moisture from the outer layers of your skin then the deeper levels will ramp up production of oil to counteract this moisture loss, which results in more shine for your face.

It is best to use a gel-based cleanser to remove excess oil and a lighter weight moisturizer. Salicylic acid is also an effective ingredient because it reduces the oil within the skin.
