Herpes Progenitalis

Herpes progenitalis is a common skin infection that occurs in the genital region. It is often seen in sexually active adults and is considered a venereal infection in that it is sexually transmitted. Tender, painful blisters, sometimes evolving into pus papules, can occur. They are the result of a reactivation of the herpes virus which lives in the nerves of the region. Because of the risk of transmission, treatment is important.
