Keloid

A keloid is a type of elevated, thickened scar. Keloids can be treated for cosmetic reasons or to reduce symptoms like itching or discomfort. Unfortunately, the recurrence rate after treatment is high, and they can be very resistant to therapy. Treatments at Sand Lake Dermatology Center include injections to shrink the scar tissue, surgical excision, and sometimes adjuvant treatment with a topical prescription cream.
