Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive exfoliation and skin revitalizing system. It is a superficial type of skin sanding in which the outer surface of the skin is removed by light abrasion for fresher-feeling and healthier-looking skin. Jets of sodium bicarbonate mechanically abrade the skin then particles and removed material are suctioned off immediately using a small vacuum attached to a wand. This is useful for removing sun damaged skin and to lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. Multiple treatments are advised.

Dermasanding
Dermasanding is a procedure in which the surface of the skin is removed by abrasion. This is done with a hand held or machine driven fine brush to remove sun damaged skin and to remove or lessen scarring. Sometimes dermasanding is used in conjunction with chemical peeling, punch grafting and subcision for acne scars. Multiple treatments will likely be needed and the downtime for this procedure is at least a week.
