Periorial Dermatitis

Perioral dermatitis produces a raised, bumpy rash around the mouth, nose, and sometimes eyes. It often resembles acne or rosacea but can have associated redness, dryness and flakiness. Treatment includes avoiding irritants and using mild moisturizing lotions, anti-inflammatory creams, and occasionally oral antibiotics. It is important to avoid topical steroids in this condition. This rash can last for several months before resolving, and may have periodic flare-ups.
