Sun Spots

Sun spots are uniformly colored brown spots that occur in sun-exposed areas such as the hands, face, neck and chest.  These spots are caused by chronic sun exposure over time. Therefore, individuals with more cumulative sun exposure are more likely to have these. Treatment of sun spots is considered cosmetic in nature.  Excellent treatments include retinoids and fading creams, chemical peels, intense pulsed light therapy, and laser treatments. Adequate sun protection early in life reduces risk of age spots appearing down the road.
