Vitiligo

Vitilgo is an autoimmune condition characterized by loss of color of the skin. Common areas of involvement include the face, particularly around the eyes and the mouth, the outside of the hands, elbows, knees and genitals. It may be seen in patients with a history of alopecia, certain types of anemia, and certain types of thyroid disorders. Vitiligo of the face particularly responds to the excimer laser. Other treatments include vitamin therapy, topical Protopic ointment and narrow band ultraviolet light therapy.
